Maslow's hierarchy of needs is utilized in every area of health care to determine how to best support those seeking help. But did you know that this is actually a God centered design? Several instances in the Bible show where the people's immediate physical and safety needs were met before they could receive the Good News. Berry Fruitful Vineyard focuses on the top three tiers of Maslow's pyramid; Social needs, Self-Esteem, and Self-Actualization to sow seeds of hope in good soil.; watering those seeds with tenderness, truth, time, tools, and training to bear good fruit. As a licensed clinical social worker, I use several methods such as Strengths Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-in-Environment, and Biblical wisdom to name a few in helping clients produce an environment where their dreams come to fruition.
